Guillaume Belle – Crozes-Hermitage 2012
Beautiful garnet-red robe with glints of purple and ruby.
The nose opens with red and black fruit; spice and white pepper. As it breathes, musky, balsamic notes, with a certain salinity, appear and provide complexity. An agreeable floral note, bringing to mind rose fannée and peonies, helps extend the aromatic bouquet.
The palate is still young, and direct almost to the point of insolence – betraying its youth. Aromatically, it expresses a beautiful medley of red and black fruit. The tannins, supported by freshness and minerality, are present, – they demand to mellow a little, but hold the promise of a bright future.
Keep for another 2 – 3 years and it will marry wonderfully with bœuf à l’anchois, tuna steak with capers or a cuttlefish-ink risotto.
